Mackinac, Michigan

It's funny how you stumble upon a situation in life that turns out to be a wonderful experience. Yesterday, while Mark and I were driving south from Ontario, we looked at the map and said, "Mackinac looks like a good place to stop for the night." As it turned out, this area is a tourist destination and today, we were pleasantly surprised as we hopped off of a ferry that landed at Mackinac Island. Mark + I agree that this was one of the most charming, quaint, and unique places we have been to. The mode of transportation on the island is: walking, cycling, horseback, or horse-drawn carriage - NO CARS!

And...the cherry on top was the fact that we visited the Grand Hotel where Somewhere in Time was filmed. This day will surely be a highlight of our trip.

Ciao' for now : )
